Reflection

  1. I have read so many content regarding the blogger lovers except this
post is actually a good post, keep it up.

  2. Hi Ling

I think it is a great project that you have merged learning of the Chinese language with the use of Bible verses. I know of some who has successfully mastered Chinese by using the Scriptures in Chinese to learn. Something I hope will happen to me. Perhaps there is a spiritual catalyst enhancing the learning process when Scriptures are used. Keep it up. Thanks

  3. Thanks , I cannot read Chinese characters (Just pinyin). But this free tool translated 我最近想多親近、跟隨耶穌 to audio and pinyin , maybe someone else can use it too. It’s a free online tool found here:

PS: You weren’t just putting words in my mouth , but the Word. And both the purpose of sought answers.

Being interested in something alone without getting closer to follow , would be like standing at a bus stop admiring the bus sign. And the bus driver awaits patiently with an open door , but then leaves for our lack of understanding and unwillingness to follow the purpose of the sign . While all along the sign was to bring us onto the bus to reach our destination.
The Word is the sign, bus the journey, Author the driver, destination???? The Bus

    • Thank you for your interesting analogies. I would also like to thank you for the useful website link. I checked the website–It is a wonderful Chinese learning tool! I have linked that website to mine. I am going to share that wonderful information with my students.

Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.

I wonder if this includes Jesus? (smile)

I was wondering how to use the word gù (顧) in a sentence.

How could I say “I’ve taken a greater interest in Jesus recently”

    wo3 zui4 jin4 geng4 gu4 de Ye1 su1 . or ???

If you can show me another way to use gu4 in a sentence it would be just like Philippines 2:4

    • Hi Chris:

Your sentence “I’ve taken a greater interest in Jesus recently,” literally translated would be:我最近對耶穌更有興趣。For some reason, it does not sound quite right to say that in Chinese. In Chinese, it would be more apt to say the following instead:"我最近想多親近、跟隨耶穌。"(Lately I would like to get closer and follow Jesus more.) However, I may be putting my words in your mouth.

Here are some examples for the usage of 顧 (take care of, look after) or 照顧:

你要好好照顧自己! (Take good care of yourself.)

只顧自己方便,不顧他人死活。(This sentence describes a selfish person who may do things to benefit himself even at the expense of others.) Literally translated, “care only to one’s own convenience, but care nothing about whether others live or die.)

If you have more questions, please feel free to ask.

  6. Maybe you can see them from Youtube website. Type in the search box–“Learn Chinese thru bible verses,” my videos will appear in the list. I will see you on Sunday.

  7. Wonderful! Can’t wait to see more verses, and more phrases. I am currently at a very big dis-level between my Chinese speaking and my Chinese writing capabilities, so your sample sentences are a great help!
