Reflection 感想:

要常常有一颗喜乐的心不是一件那么容易的事,我们的心情常常因为外在因素的影响而起伏不定。健康不好身患重病,饱受肉体上的煎熬,叫人如何心中感到喜乐?结婚多年的另一半突然离你远去,叫人如何心中感到喜乐?工作多年的公司因经济不景气,把你裁员了,叫人如何心中感到喜乐?用功读书甚至熬夜苦读,考试还是考得不好,叫人如何心中感到喜乐?开车在路上出了问题,叫人如何心中感到喜乐?人生不如意的事实在说不完,我们要如何才能常保有一颗喜乐的心呢?没有一个精神上的支持,一个坚固的信仰是绝对不可能的事。

惟有靠主心中才能有平安有喜乐。是的,惟有靠主心中才能有平安有喜乐。

使徒保罗说:『應當一無掛慮,只要凡是藉着祷告、祈求、和感谢,将你们所要的告诉神。神所赐出人意外的平安,必在基督耶稣里,保守你们的心怀意念。』(腓立比书4:6)。遇到不如意的事面临困难的时候,我们学着仰赖神。藉着祷告、祈求、感谢,把我们心中想要的告诉神,神就会赐给我们不可思议的平安,在基督耶稣里,保守我们的心怀意念,让我们内心的世界不受外界的干扰影响。是的,除了祷告还有祈求,还要心存感谢的心。不管我们人生遇到什么不如意的事,我们还是要心存感谢的心,只要我们深信凡事都有神的美意,就能以达观的生活态度和平常的心对待世间不顺人心意的事。任何事发生在我们身上,都有神的美意存在,可能是要我们在困难中学习仰赖神,也可能是要在你身上彰显神的荣耀,也可能是一个难能可贵的学习机会。心存感谢的心,处处往好的方面想,从中学习,让自己在软弱中学习全心依靠神, 神就会给我们加添力量,给我们勇气接受人生任何挑战,帮助我们克服任何困难。就如保罗在腓立比书 4:11 所说,『我无论在什么景况都可以知足,这是我已经学会了。我知道怎么处卑贱,也知道怎样处丰富,或饱足、或饥饿、或有余、或缺乏,随事随在,我都得了秘诀。我靠着那加给我力量的,凡事都能做。』惟有靠着那加给他力量的,保罗才能在任何景况都可以知足。

My  Reflections:

It is not easy to always keep a happy and joyful heart.  Our mood can go up and down due to the influence of the outside factors. How can we feel happy if we are afflicted with ill health and physical pains?  How can we feel happy if the spouse with whom we are married for years suddenly left us?  How can we feel happy if we are laid off by the company we have worked for years?  How can we feel happy when we did poorly in our test in spite of hard work and late-hour study?  How can we feel joy when our car ran into a problem on the road?  Many things in life do not go as we wish and the list is endless, but  how can we maintain a happy and joyful heart? It is impossible without a spiritual support and strong faith.

We can have peace and joy only if we lean on the Lord.  Yes, we can have peace and joy only if we lean on the Lord.

Apostle Paul said, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus“ (Philippians 4:6). We learn to lean on God, when things do not go as we wish and when we encounter difficulties in life.  By prayer, request, with Thanksgiving, tell God what we want, and God will grant us peace that is beyond our comprehension.   In Christ Jesus, He will guard our hearts and minds, so our inner world will not be subject to the influence of the outside world.  Yes, besides prayer and request, we also need to give thanks [to God].  We give thanks even when things in life do not go as we wish.  As long as we deeply believe that God has his good will in anything that has happened to us, we can treat the unexpected things in life with positive attitude and accept them like other things in life. Anything that has taken place in our life has its divine purpose: God may want us to learn to lean on Him in times of difficulty, glorify Him through us, or provide us with a rare and precious opportunity to learn. Give thanks and always see the positive side of things.  Learn from whatever we have encountered in life, and in our weakness we learn to lean on Him with all our hearts.  God will give us strength and courage to face any challenges in life and help us overcome any hardships.  As Paul said in Philippians 4:11, “I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.  I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty.  I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.  I can do everything through him who gives me strength.”  Only through him who gives him strength, can Paul be content in all circumstances.

    Thank you for posting these Chinese verses and explanations of vocabulary. My family and I are living in Taiwan, attending a Chinese church, and understanding about 40% of what is being preached/sung. We work at an American International School, but want to get more into the Gospel in Chinese to be able to witness when the Holy Spirit gives us a chance. Wo hen ganxie zhaodao nide bowen!

    Our church also sings Stream of Praise songs, and we’re learning those songs by rote memorization and we’re beginning to recognize more characters as we are improving our vocabulary.

    Do you have any suggestions for us? Both my husband and I are fairly adept with pinyin, but we’re going about language learning in a non-traditional way!

      Sorry for my belated reply. “Wo ye hen ganxie ni zhaodao wode bowen!” You have asked me suggestions for your Chinese learning. Are you ready for my suggestions? Here it is: There is no shortcut in language learning. However, with persistent efforts, your Chinese will get better and better day by day. Enjoy the process of learning is the key. If you are interested in the content of the materials, you will be motivated to learn. And try to use what you have learned in your daily conversation with Chinese. Those who are willing to open their mouths and not afraid to make mistakes are the ones who can learn a new language faster than others.

      Use an integrated approach that incorporates all aspects of language–listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Just like eating an elephant, eat a few bites every day, eventually you will eat the whole elephant. Same with language learning, commit a period of time to language study daily, eventually you will master the language: 1) Practice speaking every day, 2) practice writing a set of Chinese characters daily, 3) listen to a lesson daily, 4) read some Chinese daily.

      Hope you will find my common-sense and 2-cent suggestions helpful.

    I did not see your message until today. I was happy to hear from you. I am so glad that you’ve found my reflections of Bible verses comforting and encouraging. Bible verses are uplifting and reflections on Bible verses inspire ourselves and others.

      Thanks for your comment. I appreciate your encouragement and will try to improve my video presentations by adopting a software that will allow me to edit the video and incorporate the notes into the big screen. I will also need to get used to teaching in front of the videocam :-). Have a wonderful New Year!
