Reflection: Paul’s Encouraging Words

Whenever I feel down, Saint Paul’s words always encourage me. When persecuted and facing imminent death, he still faced life with this contentment:

“I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.”

Whenever I think about this verse, I ask myself, “what is all the fuss about?”  Why are we complaining about life, when most of us enjoy life better than many other people living on this planet?  This verse picks me up from my self-imposed unhappiness and dissatisfaction with life.

Let us memorize Saint Paul’s verse in Chinese and English to remind us to count our blessings in life.
